MeSeePrivacy Policy

MeSee is made by WeMakeSense LLC ("WeMakeSense", "we"). This policy explains, in plain language, what MeSee does with your information. The short version: we never store your photos, we don't track you, and you can delete everything at any time.
Your photos
- Your photos stay in your iPhone's Photos library. MeSee reads them there; it doesn't copy your library anywhere.
- A photo leaves your iPhone only when you ask for a description, a detailed description, an answer to a question or a comparison, or when you turn on a feature that describes photos for you (these are off until you turn them on).
- Before sending, MeSee makes a smaller copy of the photo. This removes hidden information such as location (GPS) and camera details. A place name is added only if you turn on "Include place names in AI requests".
- Our server keeps the photo only in memory while the description is written, then discards it. Photos are never saved to disk, logs or backups.
What we keep

Answers to your questions and Camera Coach advice are shown to you but not stored on our server. Our server also sees your IP address for each request, which is used briefly to prevent abuse. We don't store it with your account.
Ask your library and Memories
When you ask a question about your library or ask Iris for a memory's story, MeSee sends short text facts about the relevant photos (date, place name, names you gave, and their descriptions), never the photos themselves. Only when you ask.
Videos
To describe a video, MeSee sends a few small still frames. If "Listen to speech in videos" is on, speech is transcribed on your iPhone and only the text is sent. Audio never leaves your phone.
Where and when a photo was taken
The address, nearby landmarks and weather are looked up on your iPhone with Apple Maps and Apple Weather using the photo's location. MeSee's server never receives your photos' locations. You can turn this off in Settings.
Crash reports and free-week protection
Crash reports are off unless you turn on "Share crash reports". They contain technical details only, are not linked to your account, and are deleted after 90 days. To stop a free week being claimed again by reinstalling, MeSee uses Apple's DeviceCheck, which lets Apple remember one yes-or-no flag for your iPhone. No identifier or personal data is stored by us.
Camera Coach
Camera Coach's live guidance (finding faces, the subject or the page, light, tilt and steadiness) runs entirely on your iPhone. A camera frame leaves your iPhone only when you choose "Ask Iris", as a small image, and it is not stored. Photos you take are saved to your own Photos library.
What stays on your iPhone
Search, object recognition, text recognition, photo quality checks and face matching all run on your iPhone. If you use People, the names you give and the face information used to recognise them stay on your iPhone and are never uploaded. Names are included in a description request only if you turn on "Include names in AI descriptions".
Who helps us
Descriptions are written by Google's Gemini API (paid service). If Gemini is busy or unavailable, the same request goes through OpenRouter, which passes it to Gemini through another route or to a similar AI model (such as OpenAI's), using only providers that don't use the data for training. OpenRouter doesn't keep the photos or questions. Under the AI companies' terms for paid API customers, the photos and questions we send are not used to train their models. They may keep request data for a limited time to detect abuse, as described in their own policies. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details.
What we never do
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- No tracking you across other apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing your data.
- No training AI models on your photos.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off AI descriptions in Settings. Then nothing is uploaded, and on-device search keeps working.
- Delete AI Data (Settings, AI and privacy) removes every description from your iPhone and our server.
- Delete My Account and All Data (Settings, Account) removes your account and everything linked to it. If you subscribed, cancel the subscription in your Apple ID settings so Apple stops billing.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state laws), you have the right to access, correct or delete your data. Because we don't know who you are, the fastest way is the in-app options above, or contact us.
Children
MeSee isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and explain important changes in the app.
